Shantelle feeding Nigerian Dwarf dairy goats
Shantelle feeding goats treats - 2003

Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.
James 4:8

This page is dedicated to some of the does that went to new homes with several good friends of mine on "doe kid back" deals. Both of the herds that these does went to are made up of only does from my herd. Although I hope to keep many of the doe kids I receive back next spring, some may be available for sale so please ask if you are interested in a particular breeding.

Chardonnay is a plain color but none-the-less there is something about her that catches people’s eyes.  Maybe it is her long body or her elegant style and pretty face.  This doe loves her food so sometimes she doesn’t look as “dairy” as I would like.  Ideally, I would like to see sharper and tighter shoulders on her. When I saw her second freshening udder full this year, I was impressed.  Her udder is well attached, has a very pretty shape, wonderful medial division, and is developing more capacity with each freshening.  Although her teats are a bit small, she is still easy enough to milk.  Chardonnay is the grand-dam of one of our favorite young does, Shiraz.

Hope gets fat on practically nothing which makes it a challenge to keep her looking like a dairy goat. I keep Hope because she has correct conformation that is accented by a very well attached udder. Hope has one of the best fore udder attachment in my herd.  Although her teats are smaller than ideal, they express easily and she has a soft udder, making Hope easy to milk. She also has a strong set of feet and legs. I have been pleased with the conformation of Hope’s daughters and plan to save one for myself soon. One of Hope's yearling daughters was first in her milking class at the Oregon State Fair this year.

Clio is another doe that I am happy to have added to my herd. Clio is very refined and petite with pretty blue eyes and nice, correct, overall conformation. According to Clio’s previous owner, (an AGS judge), she has always had a marvelous mammary. I feel Clio has a decent udder but she is not as easy to milk as I would like because of her teat size and placement. With grandparents like Goodwood Alamo Messenger and MCH Goodwood Kiwi Angel, I have high hopes for Clio’s kids (see her gold daughter, Tessa).

If she lives up to her pedigree, Encore should produce some pretty impressive kids. So far, I am impressed with Encore but I need to find the perfect sire for her kids. Encore is nicely put together and has a beautiful udder that is “high and wide”. Her teats are plenty long for easy milking and are perfectly placed. If I could change two things Encore, I would bless her with a pretty face (this picture makes her look especially unattractive) and I would give her a more correct rear leg set. I am excited add Encore’s bloodlines to my herd and thank Tembi Buckinghamfor allowing me to “talk her into” selling this lovely doe.

I prayed for this little gal and was overwhelmed when she finally arrived.  Faith’s dam, Dakota, is my best milking doe and my first MCH.  Although Dakota is almost ten-years-old, she has only had one doe kid in her life.  Faith is her only daughter!   Faith has an awesome personality and practically radiates dairy character.  She is level with nice feet and legs and has strong shoulders.  Ideally, Faith would be a little longer bodied and little shorter legged.  I never thought I would "trade" Faith but a friend now has her on a "doe kid back deal".  Faith freshened with a very capacious udder and lots of milk like her dam but her fore udder attachment was a disappointment.
