Buck and Wether Kids Please Note: Until 7-8 weeks of age, all the “wethers” are actually still intact bucks. Kids listed as buck/wether may be sold as bucks if someone reserves them as a buck before 7 weeks of age. If not, they will be sold as wethers for the lower price. Kids listed with “buck/wether” under their name will not be promised to a home as a wether until after they are castrated. However, kids listed as a “wether” can be reserved now as pets. Wether prices for 2008 will be $80 to $100 each. I kept my prices low this past year but now I am bringing my prices up to closer to what other breeders charge for wethers. My feed prices have increased tremendously this past year and I have had a huge demand for pet wethers.

Sales Policies and Guarantees Deposits If you would like to reserve an unborn kid from a planned breeding, please send a $50 deposit for each kid you wish to reserve. If your selected kid is not available, you are welcome to transfer the deposit to another animal, save it for the following year, or receive a full refund of your deposit. A $50 deposit is required to hold a breeding animal for 30 days while you arrange transportation. All deposits are non-refundable but are transferable to another animal for a period of one year. A $20 deposit is required to hold a wether until it is ready for sale. We may be able to hold your reserved goat longer than 30 days (if arrangements are made in advance) for a fee of $1 per day. |
Shipping and Travel As is the norm in the animal industry, all expenses, including shipping, travel crate, health check up, health certificate, and any further testing (required by you or the state you live in) are your financial responsibility. Health check ups and health certificates are $35 for the first kid and $25 for each additional kid going to the same destination. The veterinary office charging this rate is 65 miles from our farm so I ask for some help with expense of fuel. The other option is the local veterinary who charges $57 per kid. I can purchase SkyKennels for the price of $50 for mediums (200) and $65 for intermediates (300). I get this discounted rate from PetEdge when I purchase a case of crates. Usually two kids are shipped in the intermediate size crate. I sometimes have used crates that I can ship your kids in for a reduced price. Unfortunately, we are not located near a major airport. The nearest airport I can ship goat kids out of is in Portland, OR. Since fuel prices are high and my time is precious, I now charge a trip fee of $100 to cover fuel expenses and some of my time to transport your goats almost three hours (one way) to the airport. It is approximately a 325 mile round trip for us and I don't charge much for my time. If possible, I will reduce the trip fee if I can plan ahead and combine the trip to the airport with other goat business. An average shipping cost for a pair of kids (under 20 pounds each) in one crate to any major airport in the continental US from the Portland, OR airport is approximately $235 (this price include tax). The rate is about $50 higher for a crate with kids weighing 51-70 pounds.
Guarantees We guarantee the fertility of our breeding animals and will replace an infertile doe or buck. A statement from a veterinarian will be required to establish that the infertility is of genetic origin and not due to lack of proper care. Our goats are healthy when they leave our farm. However, because we can not control the stress of shipping and the animal's management and environment after it leaves our care, we can not offer further health guarantees. Here is what we do NOT guarantee, although we wish we could! No one can accurately predict the mammary system of a doe kid so unfortunately, it can not be guaranteed. We are striving to produce does with excellent mammary systems and will give you our best educated guess on a doe kid's potential. Furthermore, every breeder can also only give an educated guess on how a young animal will develop as it matures. Therefore, we are unable to offer a height guarantee. So far, we have not had any of our does grow taller than the ADGA height limit of 22 1/2 inches.
Animal Health We test annually for CAE through Oregon State University where the most accurate CAE test (ELISA) is used. Our herd is all CAE negative and has tested negative since we started testing in 2001. Our most recent complete herd CAE testing was done in Feb. 2008. We have not had problems with diseases in our herd. We deworm and vaccinate all our animals on a regular basis (see our management section for further details).
Thank You Thank you for taking the time to consider our goats as a potential new addition to your herd. If you decide to purchase any of our animals, we will work with you to insure that there is a smooth transition for your new goat(s) when you purchase them. We love to stay in touch with our customers (and potential customers too!) and look forward to getting to know you. Our customers are very important to us and we rely on word of mouth for much of our advertising. We are totally hooked on these wonderful little dairy goats and plan to be in the business for a long time. ![]() Anna with Izzy and Cabernet - 2007
